A few words about ABEL

ABEL MARCEL is a musical mastermind and a passionate thinker.
A pianist, composer, educator and independent researcher active across multiple musical communities has built himself an identity as a singular and versatile voice, and shape-shifting figure in 21st-century music.
Pianomulato is a product of this process: a cultural hybrid, like my self. It brings together my love of the piano and of world, classical and contemporary music, It draws on excitement of collaboration with old friends and making new ones, of pushing the boundaries and making new connections, creating a cross-tide of cultural exchange with composers from all over the world. It presents new repertoire to be enjoyed not only by classical pianist but also by jazz and world music aficionados and particular young pianists.

An exciting mix of classical music with Latin Influences Chopin has never been so danceable
Music education is one of my passions, and teaching children and young people is without a question a very important and rewarding aspect in the career of an educator.
I have been working as an educator for the last 18 years. I realized that there aren’t many world music rhythms books for children and young adults, and this is a miss-representation of our musical heritage and our rich and diverse culture.
Having a classical and popular music background, I thought about creating a triptych of three piano books with 8 pieces each making a total of 24 for children blending classical music with Latin and world rhythms. I call the triptych PIANOMULATO. This will raise my hopes that younger generations of musicians acquire a deeper understanding of those genres, while broadening their music knowledge spectrum.
"There is an accumulation of essential truths that would fit on to a hummingbird’s wing and yet they hold the key to civic peace, spiritual elevation, and national greatness … People must live in the natural and inescapable enjoyment of freedom, just as they enjoy light and air ... [and] being educated is the only way to be free."
